- Year of accession to the collection: 2005
- Cross-numbers in other world collections: none
- Method of obtainment: induced mutagenesis of the collection strain Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CC-124 and selection (mutagen — UV light, selective factor — heavy metal (cadmium))
- Genetic features: mutant strain
- Strain condition: axenic
Morphology and Structure
cells spherical, rarely ellipsoidal, 7.5–12.4 μm in diameter; cell wall thin, tightly adjacent to the protoplast, does not form a papilla at the anterior end; flagella length ½ times exceeds the cell diameter; chromatophore cup-shaped, smooth; one pyrenoid, in the strongly thickened posterior part of the chromatophore; eyespot hemispherical, in the anterior third of the cell; contractile vacuole 1, anterior; nucleus above the pyrenoid; sexual process isogamous; gametes ellipsoidal, formed 4–8 per cell, 8–12 μm in diameter each; zygotes spherical, with smooth wall, 16–18 μm in diameter
Cultivation
- Nutrient Medium: TAP medium (liquid and agarized)
- Temperature: 24–28 °C
- Light Intensity: 50–100 µmol photons/m²/s
- Photoperiod: 16:8 h (light/dark)
- pH: 7.0–7.5
Physiological Characteristics
resistant to cadmium ions at a concentration of 0.2 mg/mL; under optimal cultivation conditions, on days 7–8, the content of substances per 1.0–2.0 g/L of dry biomass is: proteins — 38–45 %, carbohydrates — 40–45 %
Long-term Preservation Conditions
the strain is maintained on liquid and 1.5–2.0% agar-solidified TAP medium. The storage temperature is 24–28 °C, the light intensity is 10–30 µmol photons/m²/s, with a 12:12 h light/dark photoperiod. The strain is subcultured every 30–60 days.
Deposition Information
deposited in 2009 in the Republican Collection of Microorganisms of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Registration number - A-RKM 0259
- Genetic information: not available
Field of Application
fundamental and applied research in physiology, genetics, biotesting, bioremediation
